The hiking tours begin in Gardiner, Montana. It is a 15-minute drive to the trail head through a little-known section of the park. Wildlife viewing is good here and you can expect to see pronghorn, bison, elk, deer, and bighorn sheep depending on the time of year. Upon reaching the trail head your guide will give a safety talk as you put on your bear spray, put your rain jacket in the pack we provide, and grab a trekking pole.
We will follow an old wagon road toward Electric Peak. The alpine views are stunning, along with mountain silence and forest solitude. The area is steeped in human history, as well as geology, botany, and biology. We will amble along at a gentle pace covering mostly level terrain in a mountain canyon. We will stop to picnic with a lunch or a snack, depending upon the departure.
The return journey will be along the same terrain, but with different views. Your guide will drive you back to Gardiner.
